| Perhaps you
received one of those emails from a friend titled “you
know you’re from the ‘80s if……”
or had a flash memory of your pre-driver’s license days?
Did a quick search on Ebay to rediscover that wildly colored
straight outta California hung the posters on your bedroom wall……………..no
not one of those infamous Heavy Metal bands but your old freestyle
bike! Either way, welcome to vintagefreestyle.com where we share
everything you need to know about those vintage (yes, they are
over 20 years old now and so are you!) freestyle bikes.
This site isn’t just geared for the
hobby’s newest collector or long time veterans referencing
our guide for era correctness on their build, but also for
those who wanted to rekindle memories or the present day flatlander/vert
rider curious about the sport’s roots.
Welcome, to the beginning of it all!
Vintage freestyle is such an important era
in bicycles as well as modern day ramp, park, street, or flatland
riding. As of today, the site will focus on the first official
freestyle frameset to the mid 1985 freestyle bikes, framesets
and/or components. One section of the site that will be constantly
updated and improved is the guide. This database is an ideal
resource for building a vintage freestyler or for those needing
clear detailed photographs to help identify a specified component.
In addition, the build section is a tribute
to our very own vintage freestyle bikes. You will find exact
replicas of Woody Itson’s pink trickster complete with
Hutch Aerospeed cranks SST coaster brake hub & SST seat
post, Eddie Fiola’s UK yellow banana skate park bike,
RL Osborn’s 1984 Redline Prostyler, Neil Ruffel’s
orange Skyway Streetbeat, Bob Haro’s Haro Freestyler,
to original rider bikes like Mike Buff’s backyard orange
CW ramp bike, and Fred Blood’s purple Quadangle freestyle
complete Graphite ACS Z hoops & ACS Stroker pedals. Also,
factory spec bikes such as the favorite green Haro Master,
Hazzard yellow Redline RL20-II, Kuwahara Exhibitionist, and
Vector FS. Lastly, vintage freestyle is best defined by the
exotics, the framesets with all the crazy tubing and platforms
such as the 1984 CW California aka Luggage Rack, GHP Trix,
VDC Freestyle, Free Agent Free Flight, GJS freestyle, 1984
Torker Freestyle, MCS Styler, Profile Prostyler and Thruster
Freestyle.
